Dubai has become one of the places in the world for people who want to start businesses. And its easy to understand why. No personal income tax, good infrastructure and a position that connects the East and the West make it a very attractive place to create something. If you are a business owner or a company that wants to grow into new areas a business startup in Dubai provides chances that are difficult to find in other places.

We have seen with our own eyes how the correct setup, from the very beginning makes a big difference.

Why Dubai for Business Startup?

Before we start talking about the process it’s important to think about the picture. Dubai is not a place with low taxes. It is really designed for business.

The government of the UAE has been making things easier for a time. The changes in ownership in 2021 were a major shift allowing 100% ownership for most types of businesses in the mainland. The rule that required a sponsor and worried many foreign investors? That is mostly gone. Long-term residency options like the Golden Visa have also given business owners a feeling of being here for the long term.

In 2026 the process of registering a business is more digital than ever. The government websites have improved the time it takes to get approvals shorter and many company setups can be done completely online. In addition to the rules and regulations Dubai offers access, to an diverse group of workers a market that is bigger than it looks and trade routes that connect easily with the GCC, Africa and South Asia.

For our clients Dubai keeps delivering what it promises. It’s a place where business grows fast. If you get everything from the beginning

The government has to say yes to your business idea. This is called initial approval. It means they like your business activity, the people who own the business and the name of the business. This is like a light that says you can go ahead with your plans. You need this before you can rent an office make papers or pay for a license.

For businesses on the mainland the Department of Economic Development or DET gives the approval. For businesses in a zone the free zone people are in charge of giving the approval.

To get this approval you usually need to give them some things, such as:

  • A form that is filled out
  • Copies of the passports of the people who own the business and the directors
  • The name of your business
  • A description of what your business will do

Getting initial approval does not mean you can start working yet but it is a very important step. Without it you cannot rent an office open a bank account for your business or finish registering your business. Most of the time it takes one, to three business days to get the approval. Our team helps our clients with this so that everything goes smoothly and quickly.
